GrowData technology turns heads at Tooleybuc field day

Tree-level yield data to drive performance – that’s what GrowData is delivering for major orchard operators across the country, and the results are second to none.

In August 2025, heads turned at Tooleybuc in southern NSW as GrowData showcased its world-first technology at a flagship field day hosted in partnership with Amaretto Almonds.

With nearly 40 industry leaders in attendance, the event provided operators with an exclusive opportunity to see GrowData’s Track & Yield system in action, delivering precision data to Amaretto Almonds to deliver unmatched gains in orchard performance.

For the past five years, Amaretto Almonds has trialled InformAg’s GrowData Track & Yield system, which integrates GPS, load cells, gyroscopes, and accelerometers to deliver real-time, tree-level yield and positional data across its orchards.

Measuring individual tree yield with 96–98 per cent accuracy, the system generated 1.6 million individual data points across a single harvest to guide smarter fertiliser, irrigation and canopy management across Amaretto Almonds’ two trial sites.

Amaretto Almonds’ General Manager of Orchard Operations, Rob Cox, said GrowData’s Track and Yield system soon paid for itself through the insights it delivered on input usage and requirements.

“This system has transformed the way we understand our orchard,” Rob said.

“By leveraging detailed data on tree performance, we can make informed decisions that drive real business outcomes.

“The investment in precision technology has already paid for itself in a single season through smarter fertiliser application and targeted interventions.”

Prior to GrowData, industry was reliant on manual, error-prone methods of monitoring orchard performance, with up to 50 per cent of harvest data being historically inaccurate.

Now, as demonstrated at Amaretto Almonds, growers can use a single platform to monitor irrigation, inputs, harvest, pruning and financials to make decisions based on reliable data.

“Our goal has always been to provide growers with actionable, real time data they can trust,” Steve Lockyer, Managing Director of GrowData, said.

“The success at Amaretto Almonds proves that our technology doesn’t just collect data – it drives smarter decisions and better outcomes for the industry.”
