No Papple is not a typo!
This new variety of fruit was developed in New Zealand, where it was officially known as PremP109 and is now known as a Papple.
The Papple is a hybrid of two European and Asian pear varieties that looks a bit like an apple. It is very sweet and juicy with nashi like flesh. When it is stewed with a few apples and some crumble added to the top, it becomes a favorite dessert.
This luscious fruit is grown in the Goulburn Valley, Victoria by two growers who both use the GrowData Orchard software. The mobile harvest app is working hard to capture, record and report on all harvest details keeping true the GrowData philosophy of Simple Input – Smart Management.
Papples are in season now and exclusively available through Woolworths stores.
