Using GrowData’s Harvest App this season has made a huge difference to reducing our workload.
It’s very time efficient and has considerably reduced my workload in keeping track of the bins and the pickers. No more paperwork, the data is uploaded live back to GrowData and I can get a number of reports live off my phone during the day.
It’s very user friendly and has virtually eliminated disputes with pickers regarding picking tallies.
It is also great that we can use mobile phones and even iPods, rather than having to by expensive programmable scanners. GrowData simply downloads all my block details, employee lists and bin types.

We have been trialling the GrowData harvest app this season and have found it to be extremely helpful in reducing the paper work and double handling of data.
Using mobile phones and iPods also means we did not have to invest in high end expensive mobile scanners. The design of app is very intuitive. Our supervisors picked it up quickly and required very little training.
We can scan the QR code on a new pickers induction card (such as Madec) into the app in the orchard, capturing all their information. The harvest app even has a special “Known As” name field which makes it easy for us to overcome duplicate names by using the pickers “nick” names.
Another great feature of the app is that pickers can be linked to their contractors making it easy for us to report by contractor.
I can easily keep track of the number of bins being picked on a per block basis as it happens either from my mobile phone or direct from the GrowData program on my desktop computer.
With 7 properties and over 700 Ha’s it is critical that we have accurate data live at our fingertips and reducing double handling of large volumes of data is a real cost saver.

With over 90 ha of citrus it is critical that we have a system in place to accurately track the bins picked and who picked them.
The GrowData Harvest App has made this process so much easier. Although it is very intuitive I was worried about the contractors taking up the system but they have taken to it like ducks to water.
We can manage team picking and assign a quality description to each bin as well as a percentage full. And we can record the row where the bin was picked
Reports on bins picked per block, bins picked by contractor & bins picked by individual pickers are available at the touch of a button.
At any time of the day I can track progress via my mobile phone and arguments with pickers about the number of bins picked has virtually been eliminated.
The app will assign a cost per bin picking for both paid by hour and paid by bin (the program calculates an average cost per bin when pickers are paid by the hour.
