Vineyard Management Software :: Spray Diary Overview

Spray Diary Overview
GrowData Developments leads the world
in electronic horticultural
spray diaries
GrowData’s spray diary makes it easy for you to record and report on
all your chemical applications. It will automatically record your chemical
usage on a block by block basis, deduct chemicals used from inventory and
allocate chemical, labour and machinery costs down to block and variety
level.
What is recorded?
- Date (auto filled)
- Record number (auto filled)
- Spray type (folia or herbicide)
- Supervisor (defaults to Vineyard manager or agronomist)
- Employee (driver)
- Machinery to be used (this auto establishes the tank size and hourly
running cost)
- Chemicals to be used (defaults to desired label rate)
- Restrictions on use (both withholding period prior to harvest and
restrictions prior to or post growth stages)
- Targeted pest & disease
- Rate type (can be calculated as either rate per ha. or rate per 100
litres)
- Spray volume (litres per ha
or litres per 100metres of water)
- Concentration. (when concentrations are used, chemical doses are
automatically recalculated.)
- Blocks to be sprayed (multiple blocks can be selected with a swipe
of the mouse)
- Block can be grouped according to winery contracts, with spray diary
reports being produced in the format required by individual wineries
with the click of a button.
- Spray Diaries can be emailed to wineries
- EL modified code for growth stages
- Special instructions for the operator. (often used instructions can
be pre-recorded and simply selected)
- Alternate row spraying
- Machinery settings required to achieve correct output. (speed, gear
settings, jets etc.)
- Wind strength & direction (Beaufort scale)
- Temperature.
- Time of application.
- Percentage of block sprayed (if spray job was partially completed)
- Copy/Paste function allows you to copy a previous spray application,
either with the blocks or just the tank mix
- Recipes. Record your most often used tank mixes. Simply select the
required recipe.
What is calculated
- The number of litres of water required
- The number of tanks to be used
- The quantity of chemicals to be used (per tank, per block & total)
- The hectares to be sprayed
- The cost of chemicals, labour & machinery
- All details are recorded down to block and variety
- A warning will be given if a withholding period is likely to
infringe on an expected harvest date or growth stage
- All calculations are automatically revised when a block is not
sprayed, or is only partially sprayed
- It can also calculate in reverse: enter the
number of tanks used and it will calculate your spray volume (litres per
hectare)
Spray activities can be recorded in advance or after the event
Records entered for Future spray diaries.
A comprehensive spray instruction sheet can be printed which gives the
operator all the details required to complete the job, including the
quantities of chemical required per tank and part tank, the blocks to be
sprayed, the volume of water per block (expressed either in tanks or
litres), calibration settings and any special instructions.
When the job is completed the operator notes any variations to the job,
records the number of tanks used (or litres if spray unit is computerised),
records the time taken, the prevailing conditions and signs the form.
When the form is returned to the office any variations to the original
plan are changed, time and whether conditions are entered and the record
is then completed. Once the record is completed, all chemical, machinery
and labour costs are allocated to blocks and varieties and chemicals used
are deleted from inventory. If the record is changed back to
planned mode, all calculations and allocations are rescinded so
alterations can be easily made.
When records are entered after the event
A blank spray instruction sheet can be filled in by the operator and
this information can be entered into GrowData by a manager or an authorised
member of staff.
Checking Block History
A quick look up screen allows you to check individual block history,
and because all chemicals are tracked by resistance group categories,
overuse of a particular chemical type can be avoided. Withholding periods
are also automatically recorded which enables a quick look up to establish
the first available harvest date.
Inventory
GrowData’s inventory is simple to operate and produces a comprehensive
range of reports to suit both audit and internal management requirements.
Reports include:
Current stock balances
Balances as at stock take dates
Chemical by chemical usage and purchase summary
Individual chemical details including each usage, record ID, date used,
method of application & purchases
Previous stock take history
Reporting
A fully compliant spray diary report is available.
This report meets the requirements of all major Q.A. programs and makes
audits a breeze.
The reports can be produced on a by block or by variety basis and date
parameters can be set for individual reports.
You can select the format required by individual wineries and by using the
group of blocks contracted to that winery, create spray diaries showing
only blocks contracted to that winery in the format they require. No
extra work from you is needed – just select the relevant block group. No
longer will you have to fill out a spray diary for each winery.
A variety of internal management reports can be easily produced, including
chemical histories, cost expenditures and of course inventory management.
